Children’s Book Cover and Inside Cover

For this project, we were required to create a children’s book cover and an inside cover page as a form of working with publication along with illustrations. There was a lot of creative freedom with this project so I wanted to take advantage of it and bring a sketch from the past to life. The main way I wanted to design this project was by drawing it all by hand instead of using systems like Adobe Cloud to create it. I wanted to learn more about the drawing platforms that are available to me and use that as a way to style my book cover differently than others.

For my design, I started by sketching some other characters that would join the original on the cover and inside the cover area. My goal was to make my designs stand out and be colored as a way to catch a child’s attention and make them want to read the book. The cover was laid out to have the overall environment of the book on the back, while the front had a glimpse of the main adventure. The inside cover page I wanted to keep simple and just have it seem like a loading screen of a game, thus I made the characters just walk to the left side.
