San Telmo Logo Design

The Goal

For this logo design, the goal was to pick a location from a provided list and create a logo that could be used to represent the location that was picked. A logo, mockups, and website layout were to be made and delivered for this project.

My Design

San Telmo is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Known for its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and vibrant cultural scene, San Telmo offers a glimpse into the city’s rich history. It’s famous for its Sunday market at Plaza Dorrego, where visitors can find antiques, local crafts, and live tango performances. The area also has a thriving arts community, with numerous galleries, street art, and cozy cafés. San Telmo’s bohemian vibe and historic character make it a must-visit spot for anyone exploring Buenos Aires.

When creating the thumbnails for my logo, I researched the area and the values that built the community. After researching a bit, I kept seeing a common statement: “bohemian atmosphere, vibrant artistic scene, and rich history.” So going off of that, I wanted to focus on using the colors of the Argentina flag to add some history back into the logo since it also has beautiful vibrating colors within it as well.

Some other key factors that played in, included the area’s typeface known as “MuseoModerno - Bold” which

The Thumbnails

For my thumbnails, I wanted to focus on using a typeface I saw used within a picture when researching the area called “ MuseoModerno; Bold” and the sun used in the Argentina flag. In some of my other thumbnails, I added some other details that stood out to me when researching, such as the umbrella, people dancing, and the shape of Argentina on a map.

The Final Sketch

For the find sketch, I took three main components from the thumbnails shown on the right.

  • Layout (thumbnail 1)

  • The sun (thumbnail 4)

  • Typeface (thumbnails 7 & 8)

Final Logo(s)

The final logo shown throughout the progression of its creation was designed to also be used against the Argentina Flag as a secondary logo as a way to keep the history in mind when used on the website or within the sponsorship deliverables.
